Head of our corporate team, Antonia, got a VIP tour of KLM headquarters at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam yesterday. Starting off with an early morning flight from Newcastle International, Antonia arrived at the airport while it was still dark but was rewarded by a lovely sunrise en-route to Holland. Taking advantage of the complimentary meals and drinks still available on KLM flights, Antonia arrived at Schiphol well-nourished and ready for her tour.
Schiphol airport is well-equipped to make life easier and more comfortable for business travellers. The self-service transfer area, with KLM staff on hand for assistance, is ideally placed to expediate transit through the airport, meaning that business travellers can make the most efficient use of their time. Frequent flyers can eat, relax or work in the KLM Crown Lounge and for those with a longer layover who might need to catch a few hours’ sleep, Schiphol airport even has its own hotels, the Mercure or YotelAir.
When we travel for business, time is of the essence, meaning that we often fly in and out of cities without being able to explore our destination. At Schiphol you are able to get a taste of local culture without having to leave the airport, with mini versions of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum and Nemo science museum on site. With paintings on loan from the permanent collection in Museumplein, Amsterdam, even those with limited time have a chance to see the famous Dutch Masters at Schiphol Airport.
Alongside Rijksmuseum and Nemo, the airport’s new Holland Boulevard also holds an array of shops and eateries as well as a unique Airport Library. If you don’t have lounge access, the library is a perfect area to sit while you wait and catch up on emails or enjoy one of the books available.
