USA: Weather delays flights travelling to New York

The FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center has reported significant flight delays at New York’s JFK airport.

Due to adverse weather conditions and high winds, departure traffic destined to John F Kennedy International Airport is currently experiencing delays averaging four hours and 20 minutes.

There is a chance that flights departing from JFK could also be affected due to the traffic management program delaying some arriving flights.

Passengers planning to fly into or out of the affected airport should contact their airline well in advance of departure to confirm flight status.

Storms moving through the north-eastern region of the U.S. may also affect other airports. Travellers are advised to monitor local radio and other media, and keep up to date with weather developments.
