Eastern Airways has announced the launch of a new non-stop service from Belfast City Airport to Newcastle.
The regional airline will provide a daily weekday service from the Northern Irish capital to the North East’s largest airport starting on 1st September 2017.
Mathew Herzberg, head of commercial at Eastern Airways, believes the route will provide a convenient link to the whole of the North East via Newcastle.
Leon McQuaid, aviation development manager at Newcastle Airport said:
“It’s great to see Eastern Airways further enhance its offering from Newcastle and continue to invest in our region.
“This new service to Belfast City Airport will offer the North East travelling public a direct link into the heart of Belfast city centre and with strong links on both sides, we expect the service to be well received in both the business and leisure community.”
Commercial and marketing director at Belfast City Airport, Katy Best, added:
“Newcastle has always been a very popular destination for passengers and it is fantastic to once again be able to offer this route from Belfast City Airport.
“Eastern Airways has made a hugely positive impact on the Northern Ireland market since entering in March with its Isle of Man service, and we are delighted that the airline has recognised the market’s potential through the introduction of this flight to Newcastle.
“This announcement comes during what is an exciting period for Belfast City Airport following the positive momentum generated by co-hosting the Routes Europe conference, and we are confident of continuing to grow our UK and European route network further in the future.”
Last month, Flybe entered into a partnership with Eastern Airways with the franchise agreement starting on 29 October 2017.
